Welcome New Architectural Technology Students to Summer 2020

Architectural Technology New Students,

If you are receiving this, you have recently enrolled in the Architectural Technology Program.  Welcome to the program!  We look forward to seeing you all this Summer 2020 semester or Fall 2020 semester.  Summer Classes begin May 18th.  Our classes are located on Wake Tech’s South Campus, but due to COVID 19, our Department classes will be taught virtually online this summer.

I am Phillip Jefferson, Program Director for Architectural Technology.  Please feel free to set up a time to meet with me Virtually if you have questions on what classes you need to register for.  All of the first-year students should be registering for these classes in the Fall 2020 Semester:

  • ARC 111, Introduction to Architectural Technology
  • ARC 112, Construction Materials & Methods
  • ARC 114/ARC 114A, Architectural CAD and Architectural CAD Lab
  • ARC 250, Survey of Architecture History
  • ENG 111, Writing and Inquiry

There are multiple sections of ARC 111, ARC 112 and ARC 114/ARC114A including evening sections.  These classes are extremely important for you to be in sequence with in order to move into the Spring 2021 semester.  These classes are prerequisite courses and will help you prepare for your second semester.  Please log into Web Advisor and register for these classes before they are full.  If you have problems registering, please contact me and schedule a meeting with me.  You can contact me at phjefferson@waketech.edu or at the office at 919.866.5353.

If you would like to start on a class this summer, you can take:

  • ARC 114/ARC 114A, Architectural CAD and Architectural CAD Lab
  • This class is also being taught virtually online and will be meeting on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday Evenings, starting at 6:00 pm on Microsoft Teams.  Once you register, you will receive an e-mail from your professor with instructions on accessing the class virtually.  Though we will not be able to meet in person in a physical classroom, we will meet in person virtually for class.  You will need to have your own personal computer (preferably a PC, whether laptop or desktop, note some software in our program is not easily compatible with MAC ) and also access to Autodesk AutoCAD Software, which your professor will explain to you.  Students will be able to access software for free.  Your professor will share with you your computer system requirements and how to download the software.  If you would like to take one class off your Fall schedule, this is the first class that you can take.  Please log into Webadvisor and Register.
