Architectural Technology Fall 2020 Class Changes

Architectural Technology Returning and New Students,

If you are receiving this, you are a current student in the Architectural Technology Department, have recently enrolled in the Architectural Technology Program and may have registered for Fall 2020 classes.  I am Phillip Jefferson, Program Director for Architectural Technology.  Please feel free to set up a time to meet with me Virtually if you have questions on what classes on which you need to register.

First, to our new students, welcome to the program!  We look forward to seeing you and all our returning students this upcoming Fall 2020 semester.  Our classes are located on Wake Tech’s South Campus, but due to COVID 19, our Department classes will soon be changing on Webadvisor.

Due to the unforeseen circumstances brought about by the Covid-19 virus, the Fall 2020 semester schedule is changing to allow for more physical distancing in our classrooms and labs. These changes will require cancelling a number of scheduled course sections and adding new course sections.

As these schedule changes take place, you will start to see courses you are currently registered for be cancelled. Please know that we are working to have new course sections added to WebAdvisor as quickly as possible, and that the new course sections will fulfill the needs of as many students as possible.

Classes that will be shown as Hybrid or Online classes, will be scheduled virtually during its originally scheduled time with Microsoft Teams.  Classes that are software related will require students to have a PC, either desktop or laptop (preferably not a Mac computer, as some software may not be fully compatible) and access to the software for our classes: Autodesk Auto CAD, Autodesk Revit, Adobe CC Suite, specifically Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Acrobat and Sketchup.  Contact your professor or instructor if you have questions on software.  Drawing students will need drafting equipment.  We will be posting an equipment list on our department blog for you to learn about.  So please do check back.

As a note, if you are a first-year student, you should be registering for these classes in the Fall 2020 Semester:

  • ARC 111, Introduction to Architectural Technology
  • ARC 112, Construction Materials & Methods
  • ARC 114/ARC 114A, Architectural CAD and Architectural CAD Lab
  • ARC 250, Survey of Architecture History
  • ENG 111, Writing and Inquiry

There are multiple sections of ARC 111, ARC 112 and ARC 114/ARC114A including evening sections.  These classes are extremely important for you to be in sequence within order to move into the Spring 2021 semester.  These classes are prerequisite courses and will help you prepare for your second semester.

Please watch for future emails from your Program Director with news on available course sections and additional Fall updates.

Please log into Web Advisor and register again for your classes as they are re-posted.  If you have problems registering, please contact me and schedule a virtual meeting with me.  You can contact me at phjefferson@waketech.edu or at the office at 919.866.5353.  Currently we are not in the office, but you can leave a message and I will contact you.  Please make sure to leave your e-mail in your message.
